Overview Jamail Construction celebrated its twentieth year as a General Contractor in 2002. They began constructing shopping centers and retail facilities in 1982 and continue to serve many of those same clients today. Jamail continued to perform mostly public sector work through the 1980’s and in 1992 added facility maintenance and repair as a specialty and the semiconductor industry as a client. Jamail Construction is a fast-growing company that was experiencing information technology "growing pains," making it an ideal candidate for RSA's Structured On-Site Support offering.

Their project managers and office support staff were required to use a mixture of applications with no integration in order to perform their job duties. The lack of an effective means of centralized file storage, resource permissions and access control, or standardization of desktop and laptop application portfolios had a negative impact on their business and on morale.

RSA Responds

Jamail Construction engaged RSA in November 2002 to address problems with network instability, poor application integration and performance, and a lack of proper alignment between IT initiatives and business goals and processes.

Some of the immediate problems that required remediation included:

• Connectivity between locations
• Instability of document and collaboration portal server
• Frequent virus attacks
• Back-up failures
• Improper domain functionality.

As RSA worked to untangle the immediate problems, our consultants built an understanding of the business goals and processes utilized by Jamail Construction. With this knowledge, RSA was able to provide strategic guidance for a long-term and more integrated information technology solution.

RSA provided a secure and stable model for using secure point-to-point communications between remote offices that could easily be expanded to accommodate business growth.

RSA Results

When Jamail decided to replace a series of non-integrated applications with a comprehensive software solution, RSA recommended and configured new servers to support the software creating a scalable infrastructure. RSA also worked closely with the vendor to assist with data conversion from the various software packages - accounting, estimating, and project management. When the vendor fell short of Jamail's expectations, RSA stepped up to perform all of the data migration and meet the "go-live" deadline.

RSA's efforts not only enhanced the stability and functionality of the documents management system, but also provided access and collaboration for Jamail Construction's clients.
