Galveston County, Texas
Information Technology Transition Plan
Galveston County is in the process of constructing a new Criminal Justice Center and needs RSA's assistance.
Galveston County IT staff was not deeply involved in the planning or management process for the new facility. Details of the technical facility requirements were handled through design and consulting subcontracts issued by the architects and builders.
A learning period and shake down process is anticipated when the facility is completed and turned over to County personnel to operate and maintain. This presents the possibility for problems during this transition period.
Consequently, Galveston County requested a proposal from the RSA to supply expertise to assist in planning and oversight of the move of their personnel into the new Criminal Justice Center. The County's move is scheduled to take place in phases over the next three years and includes all the tasks necessary to bring the facility from "bare building" start point to a fully functional and operational County facility.
RSA engaged with all of the stakeholders in this new facility and the subsequent move - Architects, Technical Designers, Contractors, IT Staff, User Management, Financial Management. RSA developed a detailed plan to identify all of the steps necessary to ensure a smooth transition.
This planning project will begin under RSA's leadership in Q1 of 2005.
