UTMB Partners with RSA Corp to Remediate PeopleSoft® Implementation

The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is a major academic health center dedicated to health science education, patient care, research and community service. UTMB occupies 85 acres and 54 major buildings on its main campus and has numerous community-based sites in Texas. The most recent addition is the construction of the Bio-Safety Level Four Lab, completed in October 2003. 

Challenge

UTMB sought to improve overall business effectiveness by aligning technology systems and processes with its business objectives. After careful research, UTMB decided to implement enterprise resource planning (ERP) and purchased PeopleSoft as its ERP business applications vendor. The health center chose a third-party vendor to manage implementation of the PeopleSoft Finance 8.4 package.

When the PeopleSoft implementation was unsuccessful, the UTMB Information Systems staff assumed management and re-initiated the project. However, UTMB lacked in-house resources to effectively complete such a complex project.

Solution

UTMB engaged RSA Corp as its trusted advisor. Because of our successful five-year relationship providing PeopleSoft consultants, the health center could rely on RSA Corp to get the job done right the first time. We partnered with UTMB’s technology staff to provide technology guidance and transfer of knowledge.

ERP packages are not one-size-fits-all. To make UTMB’s package fit its needs, we supplied configuration support, custom application development and functional knowledge training.

Result

UTMB successfully deployed the application and continues its implementation and upgrade of additional business modules with the assistance of RSA Corp consultants. Our workflow and human resource management systems (HRMS) expertise support UTMB’s fit/gap review and HRMS projects. Our planning experience and guidance help ensure each project’s success, optimally utilizing features and functions that best suit UTMB business processes.

UTMB’s PeopleSoft initiatives are predominantly staffed with RSA Corp consultants. These consultants have been recognized for their superior contributions in helping UTMB maximize its ERP investment by providing business value and cost reductions.
